Charlton and the club’s partners are joining forces for this year’s Greener Games at The Valley.

On Saturday, the men’s first-team host Stevenage in Sky Bet League One, while the women’s first-team’s Greener Game themed matchday takes place on Sunday, March 23rd when Birmingham City visit SE7.

It is the third year that the club will have run the Greener Games in partnership with the club’s front of shirt partners and official sustainability partner RSK - a global group of environmental, engineering and technical services businesses - and the University of Greenwich.

Charlton Chief Executive Charlie Methven said: "A key part of our vision for the club is for us to become more sustainable both financially and also environmentally. The Greener Games give us a great platform to showcase the work going on and encourage our supporters to be part of our journey. However, being sustainable can’t just be something we do for two games a season. Working with our partners RSK, we are focused on making changes that extend beyond our Greener Games. We have begun working towards looking to achieve the gold standard designation within the EFL’s Green Code and in partnership with RSK, we will be putting in solar panels across the stadium ahead of the 2025/26 season."

CACT’s Director of Education and Sport David James added: "CACT are delighted to deliver matchday activations as part of the Greener Games and our continued work and focus on environmental sustainability.

"Staff and students from St Mary Magdalene School will be attending the matchday, with the winning team of Year 10s from a recent sustainability project presenting their work to key partners including RSK, the University of Greenwich and Pledgeball.

"In addition, CACT are leading the ‘Stroll to the Stadium’ which sees fans swap cars or public transport to join a walking group, with each participant reducing their carbon footprint and arriving at The Valley in good time to enjoy the match!"

Simon Goldsmith, Head of Sustainability at the University of Greenwich, said: "Football won’t be the only thing affected if the climate crisis continues. Our lives, homes, work, schools, towns and cities, countries and continents will be impacted too.

"We are asking you to make changes that matter, whether that’s driving less, buying local, or changing how you heat your home."
