Coady: 'I can't wait to get going'

New signing Conor Coady is looking forward to Saturday’s clash with former club Leicester City (KO 12.30pm GMT).

"The first training session was brilliant, I just wanted to get going, meet the boys, get on the grass with the gaffer and listen to his ideas. The session was top, it was everything I expected it to be and I can't wait to get going," Coady said.

"I spoke to a lot of people who worked under the manager, and I spoke to the manager on Monday. I had a few people were telling me how good he was, what his detail was like, how he worked and that was brilliant to hear. It was everything I thought it was going to be.

"I'm here to help the lads, I'm here to help the football club as much as I can. I have come here with one goal in mind, that's to get as much out of this move as I possibly can. To help the players, help the football club and to help the supporters, it's more for them.

"I'll give the best of myself every single day, that is just something I have always done throughout my career. I'm here to perform, I'm here to do well, and I'm here to prove that I can play for this football club."

The Addicks face a club and a boss that Coady knows well, having spent two years at Leicester City prior to his move to Wrexham in the summer.

"I can't wait for it, it's a fantastic football club with really good people within it as well. I'm looking forward to going back there.

"Going back there is a strange one, but it wouldn't matter who it was on Saturday, I just want to get going with this football club now, get to playing well and help the lads as much as possible."

Andy King will take charge of the Foxes on an interim basis, following the dismissal of Martí Cifuentes last week.

"Andy is a brilliant fella. The intensity and the way he does things is really good. I'm expecting a real tough game, he is respected enormously at the football club," Coady explained.

"It's a huge test, a test that's different to what we thought we were going to get before the managerial change, so we have to make sure we are ready."

Despite being away from home this weekend, the defender is looking forward to the prospect of playing in SE7.

"I played at The Valley a long time ago, and it's an incredible football ground. It creates an atmosphere that you want to play in front of, and that's a big part of why I wanted to experience this and why I wanted to come to this football club."
