Conor Coventry says he and his teammates are relishing the challenge ahead as the Addicks take on Chelsea in the FA Cup third round on Saturday (KO 8pm GMT).
"I was buzzing when I saw the draw," the midfielder said. "We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy draw, but it’s an exciting one for us. Chelsea are Club World Cup champions, and so we're looking forward to being at home in front of our fans and hopefully it's going to be a good night for us.
"Chelsea have some of the top midfielders in the world and in the Premier League, and it's going to be a challenge, definitely, to come up against, but it will be great to challenge ourselves against them. They're top players - some of the best players in the world.
"We're all relishing that chance as a group and as individuals, we're really looking forward to it."
The Blues appointed Liam Rosenior as Enzo Maresca’s successor earlier this week, and he will take his first game in charge of Chelsea at The Valley this weekend.
"It's a tough job for the staff to figure out what's going to happen [with Rosenior taking his first game in charge]. Us as players, it doesn’t really change for us too much. We know the quality they've got, and we know that they'll come and have a lot of the ball."
This weekend will be the Addicks’ highest attended FA Cup fixture at The Valley in 50 years.
"The FA Cup crowd is something we're all looking forward to,” Coventry said. "We experienced that sell-out atmosphere in the play-offs that season, and we all enjoyed it. It’s an exciting time for all the fans and we're happy to be there in front of them."
