Greg Docherty was left frustrated following Saturday afternoon's 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Addicks' skipper felt his side should have come away with more than a solitary point after starting the second half strongly and going ahead through Matty Godden.
But Gabriel Otegbayo's 76th-minute strike cancelled out the lead, leaving Charlton heading home with one point rather than three.
"The first half was a little bit edgy, to be fair," said Docherty.
"The stats show that they [Sheffield Wednesday] start games really strong, especially at home. We knew we would finish the game strongly.
"I think that we turned the ball over too much, when we won it back, we gave it away too quickly, particularly in the first half."
“In the second half, we started really well, got the goal and then it was the story of the last few games, really. They got one goal, and we couldn’t get the second one and kill the game off which was frustrating again," the skipper explained.
“We have to do better. Nothing would have been decided today, but it was disappointing.
“Every game we don’t win is a missed opportunity, we are in control, that is the main thing, but the longer it goes on the more frustrated we get.”
“We want to win every game; we have two home games coming up and we need to finish the season strongly.
"Sheffield Wednesday have some good players, and they were fighting and playing freely. We wanted to get the job done, we gained a point, we had more than enough to get the second goal, and that has cost us really."
Godden made it two goals in two away games for the Addicks as he opened the scoring at Hillsborough at the start of the second half.
And his captain praised the forward for the impact he has made since returning to action.
"[Matty] Godden gets on the end of things, even when he doesn’t have the right to. He has been so important for us, since I have been here, and we have massively missed him. But we need to spread the goals across the team and not rely on one person."
"In this league there is no un-winnable games. It has been an opportunity missed today, we go into Wednesday with the same mindset, we want to win again, and we look to go and get three points on Wednesday."
