Jones previews Millwall meeting

Nathan Jones expects a real test at The Den on Saturday as his side travel across south-east London to take on Millwall (KO 12.30pm GMT).

The gaffer gave his assessment of the Addicks' Sky Bet Championship form this calendar year.

"I'm a little bit disappointed because we've had a few home games and we would've liked to have won both home games," the gaffer said.

"We're one of the best at scoring late goals and we know that we come strong in games, but the trouble is in recent weeks and times we've been out of games and had to chase games and take a game away from someone.

"The evolution now is to bring everything together. I would like to keep clean sheets, to dominate the football and score more goals. However we do that, I don't mind."

The gaffer gave an injury update on Lloyd Jones and Harvey Knibbs.

"We hope [Lloyd will be fit for Saturday]. It was precautionary, we brought him off. He was struggling physically to push off and jump which is a big strength of his, but we have to monitor that over the next few days.

"It's positive [with Harvey] in terms of the fact there's no fracture, but he's damaged a few of the ligaments which will be a few months if we go down the conservative route. If he has to have surgery, we'll just have to wait."

The Addicks have strengthened their defensive ranks with the loan signing of Luke Chambers from Liverpool.

"He had a very good loan spell at Wigan. He's a very technical defender, a good athlete and he's played at almost every England youth level and comes in with a good pedigree.

"We need defensive competition, to go from where we were after 15 games, it's been a massive disruption to how we play."

Looking ahead to this weekend's clash with Millwall, Jones said: "It's a derby game, and a fabulous game for both clubs. I always enjoy going to The Den - you get tested on all levels. You have to be mentally strong, physically strong and then tactically really at it.

"I thought we were excellent at The Valley against Millwall and it took a red card for them to get anything from the game.

"The fans have been brilliant, and the away support has been superb. We haven't given them too much lately, so I think it's about time that we do."
