Joe Rankin-Costello scored a 69th minute equaliser in front of the Covered End to earn the Addicks a good point against league-leaders Coventry City.
Appearing in just his first home league start for the Addicks, the 26-year-old put on a virtuoso performance, dominating the midfield and netting a vital goal.
“It was an unbelievable feeling," Rankin-Costello said. “I feel like I could score more goals in my career. Hopefully, I can get more chances to.
“Hopefully I have taken my chance and I can go forward from here."
The Addicks came away with a well-earned point against Coventry, but the midfielder thought that the team could have gotten more from the game. “You can win any game in the Championship, and we felt like we probably should have gotten more points than we did today, but we were happy with it.”
“It has been a tough period, but we have remained positive because the performance levels have been good. We feel like we can beat any team on our day, we just have to make sure we do what we do right and hopefully we can get more points.”
It was another busy Valley with 20,789 supporters in attendance and Rankin-Costello spoke highly of the support from the Addicks faithful. “The atmosphere from the fans is unbelievable, at home and away, and I just want to score more goals in front of them now.”
Rankin-Costello returns to his old stomping ground on Sunday, as the Addicks travel to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn Rovers. “I can’t wait [to go back to Blackburn] I loved every minute I was there. I can’t wait to go back and play against them."
Charlton return to action on Sunday as they take on Blackburn Rovers in the Sky Bet Championship (KO 3pm GMT).
