LOAN WATCH | Kanu opens Walsall account

Five Addicks were in action for their respective loan clubs over the weekend.

Daniel Kanu was the difference-maker for Walsall, scoring his first goal for the club in a 1-0 victory over Chesterfield at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium. The Saddlers have won three league games on the spin following Kanu’s arrival and now sit third in the Sky Bet League Two standings.

"I’m just really, really happy that I’ve been able to repay the team, the staff and everyone that’s had faith in me with the goal that ended up being the deciding factor," said Kanu. "It’s three wins in a row in the league and we’re pushing for more."

Elsewhere in the fourth tier, fellow forward Micah Mbick, who completed a deadline day loan move to Colchester United, was handed his debut for the U’s, coming on as a 77th-minute substitute in a 1-1 draw at home to Crewe Alexandra.

Kaheim Dixon, on loan at Crawley Town, is currently away with Jamaica and played in the Reggae Boyz’s 4-0 win in Bermuda, while the Red Devils claimed a 1-0 triumph at Harrogate United.

In Sky Bet League One, Alex Mitchell played the entirety of Plymouth Argyle’s 4-2 victory against Stockport County at Home Park and Nathan Asiimwe started nine-man AFC Wimbledon’s 3-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers.

Gassan Ahadme and Terry Taylor were not in action for Stevenage and Northampton Town owing to the international break.

Academy graduate Zach Mitchell could earn his Hibernian debut on Saturday evening when they host Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.

In the National League South, Toby Bower provided an assist in Farnborough’s 2-1 reverse at home to Dover Athletic, while Patrick Casey was an unused substitute for Maidstone United, who suffered a 3-0 defeat against Horsham at Gallagher Stadium.
