MATCH PREVIEW | Blackburn Rovers v Charlton

Charlton v Blackburn preview

Karen Hills’ side travel to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium on Wednesday to take on Blackburn Rovers in the Barclays Women’s Championship (6.45pm KO).

The Addicks earned a 4-1 victory at Coventry United on Sunday thanks to a Mel Johnson hat-trick and an impressive Emily Simpkins strike.

Charlton head into Wednesday’s game sitting third in the Championship table, two points above fourth-placed Southampton and with two games in hand.

Rovers come into the clash enduring a nine-game winless run across all competitions, with their last league coming against Sunderland back in November 2022.

Blackburn currently sit 11th in the second tier, nine points above bottom-placed Coventry United.

The last time these two sides locked horns was back in October 2022, when the points were shared in a 2-2 draw. Charlton were able to fight back from two goals down in the second half as Simpkins’ penalty and Johnson’s 70th-minute strike Hills' side leave The Oakwood with a point.

The Addicks' last win over Blackburn came in April 2022. Mia Ross, Emma Follis and Lois Heuchan were all on the scoresheet in a dominant 3-0 victory.
