Charlton Women welcome WSL side Liverpool to The Valley on Easter Sunday (KO 2.30pm) in a massive FA Cup quarter-final.
Charlton Athletic
The Addicks haven't been back at The Valley since they beat Sunderland 1-0 thanks to an Amalie Thestrup goal. Amalie bagged another one in the losing effort against Crystal Palace last week, taking her tally to three goals in the last three games.
Speaking after the loss to Palace, Karen Hills acknowledged that, "There’s going to be a few disappointed heads," but said that her side will "bounce back, and we’ll make sure that we’ll be ready for the FA Cup game and the next game in the league."
Liverpool
Liverpool are currently 10th in the WSL and have been in the top flight for the last four years. Their last game was the Merseyside derby against Everton, which they won 3-2 at Goodison Park.
That win extended the Reds' unbeaten run, which has seen them go four games without defeat (three wins, one draw).
In the FA Cup this season, Liverpool have gone through two rounds so far, starting in the fourth round against London Bees, winning 6-0. In the fifth round, they had another Merseyside derby against Everton, winning 2-1. Liverpool have never won the FA Cup, but were runners-up three years in a row from 1993 to 1996.
Head-to-Head
Charlton and Liverpool have met 11 times in their history. The first time we met was in April 2001 in the league, which we won 6-1. Overall, the record reads four wins to the Addicks, three draws, and four wins to Liverpool, with one of those wins being a 5-0 loss in the 2011 FA Cup.
