MATCH PREVIEW | Ipswich Town v Charlton Athletic

Charlton Athletic vs Ipswich Town Match Preview

Karen Hills' unbeaten Addicks returns to WSL 2 league action tonight as they travel to play Ipswich (KO 7pm GMT).

After victory over Durham on Sunday, it is a quick turnaround for Charlton Women before they are in action again on Sunday in the Adobe Women's FA Cup. This match is a rearranged fixture from January when the game had to be postponed because of a frozen playing surface.

Charlton Athletic

After the last round of fixtures, the lead at the top of the table for the Addicks has increased to eight points. Not only that but the unbeaten run for the team has also gone up to 26 games. This is the last fixture before the international break so Hills' side will be looking to march into the break with another three points and that unbeaten run intact.

Ipswich

The Tractor Girls are 11th in the WSL 2 table, level with bottom side Portsmouth on 10 points, but with a better goal difference. Despite the ominous position, Ipswich are in a great run of form having not lost in their last three games and winning last weekend against the aforementioned Portsmouth.

Those five points from nine are what have dragged the team out of the relegation position and gives them hope to remain in the league next season. Their upturn in form could be down the the recruitment drive they went on in January seeing 10 new signings join the team.

Head-to-Head

The match at The Valley in September saw both teams walk away with a point each. It was a closely-fought game of few chances, although the Addicks arguably enjoyed the better of it. Since that game Charlton have pushed on to be the best team in the league currently and will head into this game with confidence.

Overall, the two teams have met a total of three times with one draw and two wins to Charlton, with both wins coming in the FA Cup.

Kick-off is at 7pm GMT.

The fixture will be played at Ipswich's ground in Colchester and will be broadcast live on the Barclays WSL 2 YouTube channel.

You can see the Addicks in action again at The Valley next month, when we welcome Sunderland to SE7 on Sunday, March 15th (KO 2pm GMT).
