Sophie Whitehouse Nominated for February’s Save of the Month

Sophie Whitehouse celebrates after her save against Durham

Sophie Whitehouse has once again been shortlisted for the British Gas Save of the Month. This is her fourth nomination this season for Save of the Month, with Whitehouse having won each time she has been nominated before, highlighting the brilliance of our shield between the sticks.

This nomination for Whitehouse is for her key save in our win over Durham on February 15th. With the scores at 3-1, Durham had a free-kick right on the edge of the box. The initial attempt by Beth Hepple rebounded off the wall and fell back to her feet, before she fizzled another shot through the crowd. In a split second, Whitehouse dropped to her left and made an unbelievable save, palming the ball round the post and maintaining the two-goal margin.

The save was so vital that Karen Hills took a moment to comment on how good it was in her post-match interview. She said: “I thought Sophie pulled off an unbelievable save in the set piece and if that would’ve gone in it might have looked a little bit different. But Sophie does what Sophie does and week after week she pulls off some unbelievable saves.”

Whitehouse makes the amazing look regular, with top tier performances week after week. After winning this award three times so far, you can now vote to help her win her fourth.

Voting is open now and closes on Tuesday, February 24th at 10am:
