Donate to Greenwich Foodbank at Saturday's game against Gillingham

Charlton fans will again be able to donate to Greenwich Foodbank on Saturday to help locals in need over Christmas.

Generous Addicks donated nearly 400kg of food at last Saturday’s home win against AFC Wimbledon.

The items collected by Fans Supporting Foodbanks ahead of home game against Gillingham will be given to Greenwich Foodbank, who operate eight foodbanks in the borough, and are in desperate need during the busy Christmas period.

Addicks star George Lapslie was one of many fans to drop some food in at the donation point, which will once again be in the West Stand car park on Saturday from 12noon - 3pm.

Last year, Greenwich Foodbank fed 7,505 people and this year it looks like numbers could be as much as 20 per cent higher, meaning a constant supply of food is crucial.

If you are coming to tomorrow’s game, below is a list of the foods Greenwich Foodbank would appreciate most:

  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned fish
  • Tinned rice pudding
  • Pasta sauce
  • Tinned carrots
  • Instant potato

Attending tomorrow's game to help with the foodbank donations will be children from James Wolfe Primary School, who had a talk from Samuel Spong of Fans Supporting Foodbanks last week and have been collecting food themselves.
