Bowyer on loss to Hull, Pratley sending off and the January transfer window

Lee Bowyer was frustrated as his side lost 2-0 against Hull City who moved to second in League One with the win.

The Addicks, who played much of the last half hour with 10 men, went behind in the 18th minute before a late second for the home side ensured they took the three points.

Speaking after the game the Charlton Manager said: "We dominated the ball a lot without hurting them. A lot of it was in front of them but we weren’t brave enough. We carried too many players today. We had Omar’s chance from six yards out. Big moments they are. You need people to take the chances - it changes everything.

"Hull will be up there at the end of the season and rightly so because they’ve kept most of their squad from last season. Most of those players you saw today were playing in the Championship last season."

The Addicks were reduced to 10 men when Darren Pratley was sent off shortly after the hour mark.

Bowyer said: “I said to Prats, he’s let us down. A little flick has cost us, because we were the team pushing and on top, but once you go down to 10 men, it becomes difficult.

“Do I think it was a red card? It’s so soft. It’s a little flick.

“All we can do is keep working. We were on top until they scored their second and after that it was done.”

As well as Pratley's upcoming suspension, the Addicks will also be without Ben Watson, who came off with a hamstring injury and Bowyer confirmed he will "be out for a while".

The transfer window opened today and Bowyer said he is hoping to bring a few players in.

He said: “We’re looking for a centre-half in the window. We need to improve in the final third as well. We have a couple lined up, so we need to get them in quickly."
