Bell: 'I love playing here'

Amari'i Bell wants to see the Addicks continue their recent momentum when they face Portsmouth at The Valley on Tuesday night (KO 7.45pm GMT).

Nathan Jones' men come into the contest having taken seven points from a possible nine against Leicester City, Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City.

"The last couple of weeks have been positive. We've had a good few results which builds momentum and positivity around the club," Bell said. "Everyone's just wanting to work towards the next game and hopefully the run continues.

"I just love playing football, so to be able to play games and keep going puts me in a good position with confidence in my body, but also helping the team out when I can.

"I've been really pleased with my performances this season and I still feel like there's more to come too. The fans have been excellent and I love playing here. I'm just confident when I play.

"The Valley is somewhere we want to make our fortress and we want to keep that run going. When the fans get behind us it's amazing and we need to use that to our advantage."

Asked what he expects from Portsmouth in midweek, the defender said: "We know that they are going to come in all guns blazing, just as we are. We know that it's going to be a tough game, but we believe that we can come out on top so that's what we aim to do.

"We need to keep playing the way that we play with our style of football and being positive in what we do. We need to put teams on the back foot and be aggressive with everything that we do."

January recruit Luke Chambers has joined Bell on the left side of Jones' defence, with both players thriving in their roles.

"Luke Chambers is a very good young player and it's been great so far," explained Bell. "Obviously I cover him and he covers me, and we're just building that relationship game by game so it's been really good playing alongside him."
