Club backs 'Save the White Swan' campaign

Charlton Athletic are lending their support to the Save the White Swan campaign - a community-led effort to bring the much-loved White Swan pub back into community hands.

The White Swan in Charlton Village has been closed since March 2020. During that time, local residents successfully defeated attempts to turn the historic pub into flats and a supermarket, underlining just how important it is to the area.

In response, locals formed White Swan Music and Arts (WSMA), a Community Benefit Society with the aim to purchase the building and reopen it not just as a pub, but as a thriving music and arts venue serving the whole community. In December, WSMA launched a Crowdfunder which has already raised nearly £90,000.

With the Crowdfunder closing soon, the campaign is entering a vital stage. Donations of all sizes are needed - every contribution helps and sends a powerful message about the depth of local support.

The campaign takes inspiration from the community movement that brought the club back home to The Valley in 1992. Just as fans and residents united to bring the club home, Save the Swan reflects the same spirit of determination and collective action that defines Charlton.

The club encourages supporters to get behind the campaign, if possible, to help secure a future for an important part of Charlton Village.

The Addicks return to The Valley on Tuesday to take on Portsmouth. Click here to purchase your tickets now.
