Fevrier reflects on Portsmouth defeat

Jayden Fevrier reflected on Tuesday's loss to Portsmouth.

The 22-year-old netted his first Charlton goal but it wasn't enough as the Addicks fell to a 3-1 defeat.

"It was a tough game, it was a battle and they outbattled us," Fevrier said.

"I am not sure you can pinpoint it. We have picked up a bit of momentum in the last few games, mostly at home. We tried to continue that momentum and unfortunately it wasn't there."

Fevrier was one of three substitutes introduced at half-time with the Addicks trailing by two goals.

He said: "I wanted to come and bring a bit of energy and try and change the game, which I was trying to do. Bring a bit of life into the game and turn it around."

The January signing's goal came in front of the Covered End with 26 minutes remaining.

"I got told to float around into the box," he explained. "I read the floating ball and it was just instinct.

"The crowd were very good, when we won a corner in front of the Covered End they were jumping up. It gives you a boost, the fans were good today.

"Football is a game of moments, we had some good ones and not so good ones, and they [Portsmouth] took theirs.

"We will go through it [the game], dust ourselves off, and we go again with a big game on Saturday.

"The message to the fans is to keep supporting us, its the final push now. The fans are the twelfth man. The support at home is brilliant, and away support, it gives us an extra boost as well."

The Addicks are next in action at The Valley on Saturday, February 28th, as they host Wrexham in the Sky Bet Championship. Click here to purchase your tickets.
