Caluca - Charlton Challenge
Charlton Challenge participant Caluca has developed his footballing ability and seen an improvement in his social skills since he began attending Charlton Athletic Community Trust's (CACT) Charlton Challenge sessions.
Nicole, Caluca's mum, has praised the impact of the sessions on her son: "When we heard about Charlton Challenge, we thought that this could be good for Caluca. He can be quite shy and apprehensive in new or unfamiliar surroundings and situations, and he can find it hard to join in with groups he doesn’t know. He absolutely loves football and we thought this could help him grow.
"When Caluca first started at Charlton Challenge, he didn’t even want to go on the pitch. However, CACT coach Josh and his brilliant team have created a fun, nurturing environment for all the kids, and Caluca has flourished. Young people of all abilities are welcome in training, and Josh remembers each and every child’s name when they arrive. Now we have a confident little boy who can’t wait to get to his training sessions every week. The difference in Caluca is immeasurable. We cannot thank CACT enough."

CACT Football & Sports Development Officer Josh said: "Caluca is a great kid who has come a long way since his first session, which was more than a year ago now. Initially, he found it hard to join in and get involved, but fast forward to now and he cannot wait to get onto the pitch and start playing football with us.
"With each session, you can see his confidence grow and grow. Not only have his football skills improved during his time with us, but his social skills have gone to another level as well, and it has been amazing to watch his development each week.
"We hope this is only the beginning for Caluca and that he continues to grow as a footballer and as a person with us!"
