Raheem, 8, latest to benefit from Academy pathway

Eight-year-old Raheem Offiah has become the most recent young person to make the progression into the club’s famed academy via Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s (CACT’s) Advanced Centre programme.

Raheem has been involved with Charlton since the age of five, and was spotted personally by Academy Coach Anthony McCluskey who invited him to attend CACT’s Advanced Centre, a 10-week programme coached by UEFA A and B licence coaches, working to a specialised Academy-designed curriculum.

Raheem then impressed Advanced Centre coaches and was offered a place with the Academy U9s.

Chris Offiah, Raheem's father, said:

"Charlton were able to get the best out of Raheem by being patient, communicating clearly and effectively, right coaching and most importantly – and which every child desires – love and attention.

"Most importantly Raheem has a smile on his face whenever he plays for Charlton."

Anthony McCluskey said:

“It’s fantastic to offer opportunities to those players who show a lot of potential and this is the reason we run the Advanced Centre programme. We hope Raheem enjoys his time at Charlton and continues to develop now he is in the Academy.”
